A Chester dance company is searching for Guardian Angels to help continue its life-saving work with people in recovery from addiction. Fallen Angels Dance Theatre, which has a recovery group at Storyhouse, has launched a Guardian Angel scheme inviting supporters to contribute regularly to their work so that they can increase capacity and help more people reach their full potential. Fallen Angels Dance Theatre was founded in 2011 and will celebrate its 10th birthday in the autumn. The company has recovery groups in Chester, Liverpool and Leigh and continues to work online. CarFest has announced that it is officially going ahead with plans to celebrate its 10th birthday from 23rd – 25th July 2021. CarFest, founded by Chris Evans to raise funds for UK children’s charities, is the UK’s biggest family festival raising over £16.5 million. Local artist Ron Stephens has teamed up with Cheshire West and Chester Council to create an exhibition of paintings and prints of heritage buildings in Northwich and beyond. Ron Stephens became interested in art during secondary school going on to study graphic design at Leeds and Manchester. After a gap of 30 years, a visit to Visual Arts Cheshire (VAC) gallery prompted him to take up painting again and in 2016 his love of interesting buildings inspired him to create a series of ‘line and wash’ paintings. Now Northwich Festival is a FREE family-friendly festival of international street arts and dance in the Cheshire city of Northwich. A fund was launched earlier this year by Cheshire Community Foundation and Bentley Motors to support food poverty, mental health, and debt counselling projects in the county. Chester Male Voice Choir, one of Chester’s leading choirs, have begun rehearsals again after lockdown halted face-to-face rehearsals, giving the choir’s new members a chance to perform at their first open rehearsal since the lockdown. It is planned that the choir will resume live indoor rehearsals in Plas Newton on Sunday 11th July, subject to the lifting of restrictions, and a second outdoor rehearsal will also take place, with a call for local men looking to socialise and share their love of music to join. Following some positive tests for Covid-19, a Chester restaurant and bar have temporarily closed. The Townhouse in Chester’s historic city centre features a restaurant and bar called The Secret Garden, 20 comfortable rooms, and two “group” apartments. In addition to offering breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner (Thu-Sun), the venue also caters to family functions, baby showers, hen parties, and birthdays.
