Bear Inns, operator of The Swan at Tarporley and The Lion at Malpas, has recently made a substantial donation to two local Cheshire causes, supporting both with much-needed financial support.

The £1000 donation went to two different causes, with £750 going to Middlewich & District Foodbank and another £250 going to First Goostrey Scouts.

Nicky Harris, Middlewich Foodbank District Project Manager

The Middlewich & District Foodbank does vital work in the Cheshire East region by providing families in crisis with emergency food parcels. It works with referral agencies in the area, such as schools, GPs, and local councils to ensure that no one in need goes hungry.

The First Goostrey Scouts are an important part of the community, offering children recreational opportunities as well as teaching them invaluable life skills.

Woody Barlow, Director of Bear Inns, said:

“We are proud to call Cheshire our home and we want to reflect this, not only in the food and drink we serve from locally-sourced ingredients but also by supporting the amazing initiatives going on in the community.

“Middlewich Foodbank does incredible work in our area by providing food and drink to families who need it most and, particularly at such a difficult time for many, we want to support them in doing so. The life skills and experiences you get from the scouts stay with you forever and we wanted to help the Goostrey troop continue to enjoy these opportunities.”

Nicky Harris, Middlewich and District Project Manager adds “We simply couldn’t do the work we do without the generous support and donations we receive from local people and companies. We are hugely grateful for this financial donation from Bear Inns, it makes all the difference to our charity.

A historic coaching inn, The Swan at Tarporley offers a warm and friendly welcome to those who visit it and is an integral part of the community of Cheshire. Located in Malpas, the Lion is a vibrant pub that opened in 2020.

The hotel’s 16 bedrooms provide a lovely setting to enjoy a meal with family or to stay overnight. Both pubs take pride in sourcing ingredients from local farms and producers in Cheshire.
