Staycations can be an excellent way to escape the city and get away from the endless crowds and shopping madness of the holidays. Our Christmas cottage guide for Cheshire starts here, as we journey across the county to find the best cottages for Christmas in the countryside.

Take a look at the gorgeous Sandhole cottages off Sandhole Lane in Frodsham, which are nestled in the picturesque Cheshire countryside on a working equestrian centre. You might even want to enjoy a relaxing staycation during the days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

There are a variety of unique holiday cottages to choose from, each with its own character, and each individually furnished as a home away from home with a host of creature comforts including well-equipped kitchens, excellent mattresses, sumptuous linens, luxurious bathrooms and eco-friendly toiletries.

Whether you’re looking for a hot tub trip, a relaxing holiday with a glass of fizz while overlooking the farms and the surrounding countryside, or even partaking in outdoor activities such as horseback riding, dog walking, there is no shortage of beautiful, historical, and outdoor activities to do in this Cheshire cottage.

Horse riders are welcome to stay at Sandhole cottages and take their horses on rides through the beautiful country lanes which lead up to the stunning Delamere Forest, the cottage owners even offer onsite riding instructors for those who would like to brush up on their equestrian skills. Additionally, there are amazing cycling routes that pass through the cottages and offer a chance to see the beauty of the Cheshire countryside.

Delamere Forest is a short drive from Sandhole cottages, so guests can enjoy a magical walk through a festive forest during the Christmas period. The new illuminated trail at Delamere Forest after dark offers families a festive way to enjoy the season.

Nearby are a number of pubs offering excellent British food and drinks, such as the Hare & Hounds pub and the Tigers Head, which has house gin! Both serve decent pub grub and real ales and are dog and family-friendly. Further afield we recommend the Fishpool Inn, the Pheasant Inn, the Fox and Barrel and the Vale Royal Abbey Arms do a great Sunday roast.

Sandhole cottages in Cheshire offer you the chance to relax, unwind, rejuvenate, and enjoy the festive holidays in a pared backcountry cottage setting. You can book your staycation travel here or call 07425216035 to make reservations.
