Meadow Foods, one of the country’s top independent milk and dairy suppliers, announced it will raise money for the crisis in Ukraine by travelling the virtual route from Chester to Kyiv together as a team.

Since 1992, Meadow Foods has grown from a farmer-backed dairy trading company to become the largest independent dairy company in the UK.

The company’s long-term strategy is to continue to grow sustainably, having invested £3 million to improve capacity and efficiency at its Peterborough factory, and obtaining planning permission recently to construct another 5,300 square meters of storage and processing space at its Chester factory.

The virtual journey will cover a distance of 2,671km in 50 days, with staff members walking, running, or cycling their portion of the route, which includes information checkpoints and milestones.

The fundraiser is team-based, with Meadow Foods donating £2,671 on behalf of the first team to finish, £1,500 on behalf of the second team and £750 for the first team to finish. The winning site will also win a prize for its staff.

The challenge began on Friday 9th April in Chester travelling the virtual route to Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.

Lorraine Hammond, Group HR Director at Meadow Foods said: “The current crisis in Ukraine is something we have all been very moved by at Meadow, and as our team have expressed their wishes to help, we thought there was no better way than by putting our fitness wear on and getting hearts racing.”

Meadow Foods is an award-winning company that operates from four BRC AA accredited sites in Chester, Peterborough, Holme-on-Spalding Moor and Dolgellau where it manufactures value-added ingredients 7 days a week for some of the UK’s best-known food companies.

The company has supported various good causes over the years, and this virtual journey of 2,671km covering 50 days is one of the ways the company gives back to the community.
