The Lion at Malpas is proud to announce the Maludi festival, an add-on to the annual Malpas Village Fair, featuring Malpas Showcase Day organised by the Parish Council. This exciting event will span three days and will feature a unique combination of village festivities and The Lions’ own events from tug-of-war competitions, to live music acts, delicious BBQs, and an outdoor Moretti and gin and tonic bar.
The festivities kick off on Friday 14th July, where tug-of-war patrons will be invited to The Lion for team registration to receive their T-shirts and take team photos. Adding to the excitement will be live music throughout the evening, creating a lively atmosphere for all participants and spectators alike.

The Malpas village fair is set to be an exciting event with a variety of activities and attractions. On Saturday 15th, the Jubilee Hall will host an art exhibition, showcasing local talent for all to enjoy, alongside a number of stalls on the recreation ground featuring local businesses and private exhibitors. One of the main highlights of the fair will be The Lion’s tug-of-war event, starting at 2 pm, where teams will compete in a knockout scenario to determine the ultimate winners.
The Lion Festival continues to roar into Saturday evening, as the triumphant team awaits their grand moment of victory, when they will be awarded The Lion Cup and treated to complimentary drinks. As the night unfolds, live music performances take the big stage, accompanied by a special summer street food menu and Moretti and gin and tonic bar until midnight.
As we ease into the Sunday, guests are welcomed back to The Lion for an ‘easy Sunday’ offering live music back on the big stage, an inviting outdoor BBQ, plus the Lion’s delicious Sunday roast in the pub. Moreover, in the pub’s esteemed Brereton Suite, visitors are welcomed to the local food market, which will showcase the finest offerings from local traders.
More information will be released in the coming weeks on The Lion’s Instagram and Facebook.
