Following some positive tests for Covid-19, a Chester restaurant and bar have temporarily closed.

The Townhouse in Chester’s historic city centre features a restaurant and bar called The Secret Garden, 20 comfortable rooms, and two “group” apartments.

In addition to offering breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner (Thu-Sun), the venue also caters to family functions, baby showers, hen parties, and birthdays.

On Twitter, the Townhouse Secret Garden expressed its regret about temporarily closing. In a statement, a spokesperson said:

We have taken careful consideration for the safety of our guests & staff and have therefore made the decision to close our venue until further notice due to a small number of positive cases of COVID-19 received this morning.

Our customers and teams safely must be the priority and on taking advice and with much sadness, we feel this is the correct decision to make. During this period our staff will be self-isolating in accordance with government guidelines and also undergoing testing to enable us to resume our service asap. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, however, your safety is our priority.

All reservations for today will have to be cancelled and we are making contact with guests accordingly, but please bear with us, we are doing our best. We look forward to seeing you all soon and thank you for your understanding, this is a challenging time for all.

Kind regards Townhouse Team

A growing number of pubs and restaurants in the United Kingdom have closed after staff members were found to have Covid-19.

This is a practice that is seen as responsible by several bars and restaurants. It seems that strict safety protocols will never change in the current climate since many have always adhered to them.

The Secret Garden in Townhouse has temporarily closed because of precautions and government guidelines and hopes to reopen soon. During the closure of the business, owners say they will compensate employees so they can quarantine and obtain additional tests.

You might want to double-check whether the restaurant you plan to visit is open over the next few days.
