Winter has arrived and our county boasts many beautiful nature areas and activities to help you switch off and be at one with nature. You might find that forest bathing is just what you need, whether you want to spend more time with family and friends or would like to learn about and experience connecting with nature.

Enjoy a forest bath this winter at Tatton Park, nestled beneath one of the garden’s most precious trees, and find out why it’s so popular.

A forest bath is an experience in which you are fully immersed in the forest atmosphere. Forest baths don’t require you to get wet, but rather your attention is directed to what you see, hear, smell, touch, and taste.

The ancient Japanese concept of ‘ShinrinYoku‘, or forest bathing, has taken on a new life in the western world as a way to relax, connect with nature and escape from the stresses of everyday life.

Research into the health-boosting properties of trees has studied the pleasure we feel walking through a forest, or sitting beneath a tree, and turned it into science. It has been scientifically proven that spending time beneath trees reduces stress levels, lowers blood pressure and heart rate, boosts your immune system, and increases feelings of happiness.

Visitors are invited to Tatton Park’s gardens located in Knutsford, Cheshire for an introduction to the forest bathing experience. Besides learning about forest bathing, visitors can also harness the power of trees using their sense of smell and touch by using the forest bathing guide.

The Gardens and Parkland are open and ready to welcome visitors with new safety measures in place across the estate. To help ensure the health and wellbeing of the garden’s colleagues and visitors, the staff kindly ask that visitors follow the latest government advice on travel before they book to visit.

If you are looking for a quieter experience, you may prefer to visit the gardens mid-week if you can. All visits must be pre-booked online at tattonpark.org.uk

If you feel in need of a natural boost, book a ticket to Tatton Park’s Garden online at www.tattonpark.org.uk. National Trust members are free to enter the Gardens but still need to book tickets and time slots online. (Parkland entry £7 still applies).
