Costa is to join other retailers in investing in the future of Winsford by opening a new outlet as part of the transformation of the town centre.

It will open a new 1,800 sq ft unit including a drive-thru with associated outside seating in a prominent spot at the corner of Dene Drive and the A54.

Susan Agnew, Acquisition manager for Costa said: “Costa is delighted to be part of this redevelopment and the upgrading of Winsford town centre. “

Phase one of the town centre transformation includes the addition of a new B&M retail unit and garden centre, new restaurants, improved parking facilities including EV charging stations, and a new public square that will house the town’s relocated war memorials.

Work is expected to start on site later this year and, once complete, it will have a leafy, new pedestrian boulevard and a distinctive parkland character.

Councillor Richard Beacham, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Growth, Economy and Regeneration, said: “The council’s vision for Winsford Town Centre is to mix quality local businesses with popular high street brands. Following the recent news about B&M, this decision by Costa to invest in the town is further evidence that it is becoming more attractive to a wide range of businesses. I’m sure Costa will be a great addition.”

The redevelopment of the town centre will be undertaken in phases and details on future phases will be released later.

This shopping centre was acquired by Cheshire West and Chester Council in November 2018 with Council funding of £11 million and Government funding of £9.98 million from the Future High Street Fund.
