The Swan pub in Tarporley is set to host a three-and-a-half-week Christmas extravaganza. There will be a Santa’s Grotto, wreath workshops, The Great Tarporley Quiz, and a festive gift fair as part of the Swanderland event, which opens on Wednesday 23rd November 2022.

A luxury, heated marquee that will be erected at The Swan at Tarporley will host most of the events, and the Santa’s grotto will reside upstairs in the Tarporley Room accompanied by a roaring log fire and a large comfy armchair. Alongside the timetable of events, selected World Cup 2022 football games will also be shown for those who prefer a quieter atmosphere.

Following the launch to local businesses, the first ‘Swanderland’ event will be ‘12 days of Christmas celebration, a sit-down meal with a dozen festive foods and drinks on the menu on 24th November. A ‘locals hog roast’ event will take place on Saturday.

The following week will see a wreath-making luncheon take place in the marquee on Tuesday 29th November, with The Great Tarporley Quiz kicking off the day after. More ‘12 days of Christmas launching events will also take place that week, alongside party and jazz nights.

From the week commencing Monday 5th December, ‘Swanderland’ will host the second round of The Great Tarporley Quiz, another ’12 days of Christmas event and a two-day Christmas gift fair, with stalls occupied by a local artisan and craft businesses.

The final week of ‘Swanderland’ will include live music acts over lunch, the final of The Great Tarporley Quiz, a charity gala dinner, and some yuletide carols. Before the event comes to a close to making way for a busy festive period at the pub, the World Cup 2022 final will be shown outdoors in the heated marquee.

Food and drink offers will be running throughout the duration of ‘Swanderland’. The main pub will also be open during usual hours with the log fires on for those who’d rather spend the chillier days indoors.

Woody Barlow, Director of Bear Inns said: “The Swan is set up perfectly for Christmas, it has warm and welcoming interiors, lots of log fires and good, hearty, local food. It was the perfect location to bring some festive cheer to Tarporley! This is our first real Christmas post-Covid where there’s a little worry, so we’re glad to bring the people of Cheshire something to really look forward to. Come and enjoy the festive period with us the way we used to!”

Bethan Rose Bailey, General Manager of the company and who will be overseeing a great deal of managing ‘Swanderland’ added: “We’ve gone above and beyond with our event schedule as we wanted there to be something for everyone. No matter how you like to spend the holidays, we hope we have something here for you and we’re so looking forward to showing everyone what we’ve built with ‘Swanderland’.”
