SUMMARY:Chester's Fashion History Free Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:We wear clothes to protect ourselves\, but they also represent our culture and identity. Therefore\, it’s no surprise that communities have used clothing for centuries to communicate status\, celebrate important events\, and show unity. \nIn celebration of Chester’s history of fashion during Chester Heritage Festival and Cheshire Fashion Week 2023\, Chester Fashion Contemporary presents Chester’s Fashion History is a free exhibit that will be open to the public for a day. Made possible by the Heritage Fund is an exhibition featuring historic clothing from our local museum\, as well as recreations of clothing by designers\, artists\, and locals to illustrate time and trends\, we will tell stories and recall memories about cultural traditions\, commemorations\, and celebrations through an exhibit of clothing from our local museum. \nWe invite you to join us in celebrating Chester‘s Fashion History with Chester Grosvenor Museum’s curated collection of historic clothing reimagined alongside\, stories of events at Browns Of Chester\, which can be viewed by visitors of ‘Chester‘s Fashion History Defining Moments’ at Chester Town Hall\, a Grade II* listed building that holds its own history and is reopening to the public after closure during the pandemic. As we draw on avant-garde installation and performance art to provide visitors with access to our county’s unique and irreplaceable history of fashion\, locally sourced echo-friendly clothing pieces created by talented designers\, locals\, and those currently housed at our local museum allow us to reflect\, learn about the history and heritage of fashion through decades and the shifting periods in it. Come and learn about Chester‘s history of fashion through particular garments and the craft that was put into them in aid of Hair Heals Organisation. \n
