Chester Racecourse is about to transform its most popular family-friendly race day into a festival vibe curated by Parentfolk, a family publication, community, and event organiser.

A special collaboration will take place on Sunday, July 31 2022 with Parentfolk, the curators of family space who have previously created memorable family experiences for CBBC, Camp Bestival Shropshire, NEXT, LUSH, and Harvey Nichols Kids.

Parentfolk is renowned for creating cool family socials, completely different to regular family events, designed for ‘style junkies, foodies, dreamers and folk doing parenting their own way.’ They are set to transform the racecourse grounds into inviting family space for ‘PlayFest’, where kid’s play meets summer festival, split into different zones, including a PlayZone, a MusicZone, MakeZone and EntertainZone.

The PlayZone will incorporate Ikos resort beach, a beach play space in the heart of the city, where little ones can get busy with spades building sandcastles, as well as a football skills area, a BRIO play space and a Wonderbly imagination area. There will also be giant versions of retro popular arcade games brought to life.

Louise Stewart, Chief Executive Officer, Chester Racecourse said:

We are so excited by the collaboration with Parentfolk for this year’s Family Fun Day. We wanted to encapsulate the feeling of a family festival at an accessible price point. Parentfolk is excellent at creating a fun family vibe, having produced many seasonal family socials, larger festivals, and event collaborations with the likes of CBBC, Camp Bestival Shropshire and MediaCity UK – there will be so many fun activities to occupy the children while the races are on.’

MusicZone will feature DJ Nikki Beatnik, a world-famous DJ and Ministry of Sound resident who has worked with Beyonce, Jay Z, and Kelis. Among the activities will be a kid’s Live Lounge where children can perform as stars, as well as the ever-popular silent adventure disco with its choreography-style dancing. Face Art is also available for children to enjoy during the festival.

Through arts and crafts inspired by the summer, a graffiti wall and workshop, storytimes, comedy shows, and yoga workshops, Make One and EntertainZone help children realize their creativity and wellbeing. There will also be the traditional giant inflatables that family racegoers have grown to love.

    Nic Spindler, Founder, ParentFolk said:

We’re delighted to be teaming up with Chester Racecourse for their Family Fun Day. We’ve curated a really engaging and fun event this year with our new signature style ‘PlayFest’ lineup. There’ll be lots to keep kids engaged and entertained. Our events always focus on opportunities for families to make memories together, so expect kids versus parents games, family groups joining the silent disco adventures and of course, a brilliant music zone where families can party together. There’ll be a few surprises too as well as prizes and giveaways. We can’t wait for our favourite event of the year.’

Family Fun Day tickets are available directly through the Chester Racecourse website.
